On September 17, 2009 the Legislative Assembly of Ontario passed a unanimous motion to declare the third week of February as Kindness Week in Ontario.The Kindness Week motion, co-sponsored by MPP Yasir Naqvi of Ottawa Centre and MPP France Gélinas of Nickel Belt, is an opportunity for people in communities across the province to celebrate simple acts of kindness and good will towards their fellow citizens. Escaping Domestic Violence

Victims of domestic violence often face serious barriers to escaping dangerous and abusive relationships. These individuals must act quickly to relocate to a safe location such as an emergency shelter, the home of a trusted family member or friend, or a new residence. Victims are often forced to flee with little or no notice – they must capitalize on a window of opportunity and leave immediately, sometimes without personal possessions or alternative living arrangements. Bill 53 is about helping victims of domestic violence to flee dangerous situations and establish a new life in a safe environment. [more]
