Here is a brief outline of the good things happening in Ottawa Centre.

June 16, 2010

Here's a snapshot of some of the exciting things going on around Ottawa Centre.

March 10, 2010
On February 27, 2010, we held a pre-budget consultation in the constituency of Ottawa Centre. It was an open public meeting that included the participation of representatives from community associations, non-profit organizations, service providers and residents. Those that could not attend, but wanted to participate, were invited to submit their written comments.

The goal of the consultation was to outline the community priorities for the 2010 Ontario Budget. To do this, participants were divided into working groups and were asked to answer three questions that had been posted by Minister Dwight Duncan on the Ministry of Finance website. The responses to these questions, both from the participants in attendance and the written submissions received, are included in this report.

The McGuinty government is looking to develop a Long-term Affrodable Housing Strategy that will improve Ontarians’ access to safe, suitable and affordable housing. Housing is the foundation on which people can secure employment, raise families and build strong communities.

On August 19, 2009, Yasir Naqvi hosted a public consultation with community stakeholders  to discuss the development of a long-term affordable housing strategy for Ontario.

Over 100 people from across Ottawa attended the session. Participants represented a broad range of social service agencies, housing organizations, tenant associations, municipal administrators, and active community members.

A successful strategy for Ontario must be built on community partnerships. This report outlines the knowledge, vision and creativity of the community of Ottawa Centre.
