Promoting the Independence of Public Health
On June 3, 2009, I introduced a Private Member’s Bill today that would have amended the City of Ottawa Act, 1999 to establish an independent board of health for the City of Ottawa.
Believing in the importance of public health, and with the support of Ottawa City Council, I championed this issue at Queen's Park and convinced my colleagues to include this provision in the Creating the Foundation for Jobs and Growth Act, 2010.
